Adobe tried to promote the use of DNG as some sort of universal format but it never caught on. Tiff is a much better loseless format that can be read by almost any piece of photo software. I never said DNG conversion would lose data. Some old dogs do not want or need to learn new tricks. New & improved capabilities? Great, as long as one wants them and uses them. AP is very similar to Photoshop but a bit less sophisticated i.e., you will probably find it easier to use. Another option would be Affinity Photo for about $50. It will outperform CS6 and is easier to use. One option would be Adobe Photoshop Elements for roughly $100. That is 10 year old software that is cumbersome, out of date and easily replaced. You can save the converted raw files automatically in Tiff format, which looses no data and can be used by Photoshop or any other post processing software. This raw converter is a bit slow but does a better job than Adobe.

Can I update the raw converter without an Adobe subscription? My guess would be no. I just bought a Canon R6 and now can’t open the RAW files I am still using PS CS6. I am an old guy and admittedly very technically challenged.
